Need Help -- "I'm Bored"

Help!! My 11 yr. old daughter came to me today very sincerely and asked if I had any ideas of what she could do when she was "bored". She is quickly out-growing her "toys" (which of course makes me sad). I sat down with her and we made a list, but actually it was relatively short. She also wanted to know some ideas for when her friends come over. She said they sit and wonder what they should do. Does anyone have any great ideas? I would love any help you might have. Thanks in advance!

Voice of Truth

My favorite song right now is a song by Casting Crowns titled "Voice of Truth". I have really been struggling in my mothering/homeschooling journey. I feel so uncertain as how to be a mother to a budding teenager. I feel so uncertain as how to make three kids feel like they are extra special -- each in their own way. I feel so uncertain as how to continue in homeschooling the kids as they get older. Monday,as I was sitting in my recliner feeling very overwhelmed, I thought of the verse in Philipians 4:13 that says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." I know being a mother is my calling in life. I know homeschooling is what is best for our family right now. And so, I can do these things through Christ's strength and not my own. Later that day, I thought of the Casting Crown's song, "Voice of Truth".

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out His hand

But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

Chorus:
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

I will choose to listen to the truth of God's Word and the strength that gives me to continue on in the work He has given me, and it will all be for HIS glory.

I will continue my introduction.

A little bit about me -- I am married to my wonderful husband Billy -- for almost 14 years. We met at church, and dated for a year and a half before getting married. We lived in Dalton (where my husband works) for 2 years after getting married. We now live in Chattanooga in the house that I grew up in. I graduated from Berean Academy and then went on to UTC. I taught school for 2 years before my children were born. I now homeschool all three of my children and we love it! I also teach Bradley Childbirth Classes and have done that for 8 1/2 years now.

Now a little about my husband -- Billy works at Beaulieu of America in Dalton. He is a supervisor on 2nd shift of a dye line. He has worked there for 6 1/2 years. Billy loves sports and especially football. He also enjoys working/playing on the computer. We manage our church's website -- www.understandingyourbible.com. We also enjoy watching movies and sports together.

Hannah is 11. When I figure out how to post a picture, I will do that. Hannah has really grown up into a young lady in the last several months. Along with that, has come a lot of insecurities and trying to figure life out (as much as an 11 year old can do :-) ).

Kristen is 9 (almost 10). Kristen loves animals and takes horseback riding. She is much quieter than Hannah. Kristen enjoys being and playing by herself and thrives on her alone time. (Billy calls her his "mini-me" because she is a lot like her daddy.)

Will is 6 and is ALL boy! He loves playing outside, catching bugs, frogs, etc. He loves to play with his light sabers, play swords, guns, etc. He also loves to build things with his legos. He played football this fall and loved it because he could be and play rough and it was legal :-).

Well, I better not post my life history because then I won't have anything to post later!

Have a great evening!
